When selecting a jacket, most people will usually check the look from outside. They may consider the color or the style or the design. But did you know the interior of a jacket, known as the lining, is equally important? It’s true! The lining affects how comfortable and durable your jacket will be. There are lots of options for lining fabrics at Sishuo Textile!
Texture: This is how the fabric will feel when it touches your skin. Because the lining is against your skin, it should be smooth and soft. You don’t want it to be itchy or rough because that can lead to getting uncomfortable while wearing the jacket. A great texture can really set the fun to wear your jacket apart.
Have you ever worn an uncomfortable or sweaty jacket? “lining may not have been the lining for you. A good lining should make sure you stay comfortable and dry, but it should also contribute to your jacket looking great! A bold patterned lining of a solid colored jacket, for example, can be an awesome surprise when you open it up. With the right lining, putting on a jacket can be a much more pleasant experience!
Silk: Silk is a very luxurious fabric, which feels really soft and smooth against your skin. It's naturally breathable, which means it circulates air. This makes silk a wonderful option for jackets you’ll be wearing in warmer locales. But remember that silk can be fragile, so it won’t wear as well over time as some of the other fabrics.
Cotton: Cotton is an extremely common fabric that is both strong and light. It also lets air through, to help you stay cool. Cotton is low maintenance and typically machine washable. Certainly cotton, though at times it can feel a touch stiff or heavy and may not work well for some styles of jacket.
Polyester: Polyester is a manmade fabric that happens to be really strong and wrinkle-resistant. Not only is it a lightweight material, but it's also most commonly used as a lining. Polyester is easy to care for, but depending on other options may not breathe as well. Polyester can sometimes feel a little bit “plastic-y” against your skin, which is something to consider.
Rayon: Rayon is a semi-synthetic fabric that is soft and breathable. And it’s breathable and has a nice drape, which made it a good option for jackets you’d wear in varied environments. That said, rayon may not last as long as some other options, so consider how often you’ll be wearing the jacket.
